Counselling & Pastoral Care

Counselling

At Lekki British International High School (LBIHS), we believe in the words of Plato, which states that “The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life”. Guidance and Counselling is therefore embedded into all processes, procedures and policies relating to Learner Management and Pastoral care. This is to ensure that at the point of entry into LBIHS, individual differences of students are identified with the purpose of meeting these needs.

The Counsellor at LBIHS assists the students to:

  • Chart individualised Educational Plan that suits their identified learning Styles
  • Develop healthy habits; positive attitudes and values
  • Be aware of work ethics
  • Participate in school activities with the view of increasing their effectiveness in social and personal activities
  • Identify their strengths, weaknesses, potentials and limitations

In a nutshell the counselling of our students at Lekki British International High School is of paramount importance to us. This starts from the day of resumption with an orientation course for new students, seminars and workshops for other students throughout the academic year. In addition, psychological tests are administered and interpreted to help identify specific learning styles and address other issues that might impinge on the learning process of a student.
With the right guidance and counselling we aim to achieve what Malcolm S. Forbes describes education as; “The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one”. This we strive to achieve in the Counselling Department!
